Bomb Gallery 2013 - 2015

Bomb Gallery is the deconstruction of the stereo-typical structure which marks existing exhibition spaces and models. Geographically distant as well as conceptually different from all existing private galleries, commercial art fairs, institutions and museums, Bomb Gallery will strive to promote the idea of a free, non-located art space with a selection of artists from all over the word. The city and the gallery will co-exist next to each other and become increasingly con ated. Any place can turn into a site for installations, fl performances and actions. In the future, it is conceivable that many other cities could open art spaces emulating the model of Bomb Gallery. It is important to stress that Bomb Gallery is explicitly not intended to be a usual artist-run gallery. Our artwork is Bomb Gallery itself, a dynamic, innovative social sculpture meshed into its urban surrounding.

The starting point of Bomb Gallery was a bombed-out building in the city center of Mostar (Bosnia-Herzogovina). It took place over two weeks in July 2014 affecting and influencing the city of Mostar, which has remained culturally, politically and socially divided since the change of political regime in the region. With daily art raids “Bomb gallery” intends to prepare the ground for the rise of a contemporary art scene in the Balkans and invite international collaboration. An experimental art space has been rised from the rubble of a bombed-out building in the center of the city. The permeable structure of the shell-shocked building lends itself to the interaction between interior and exterior.
