Aleksandar Nesic is a mixed media artist working across performance, music and visual art. He studied graphic, performance and video art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 2003 to 2010. In 2006, he co-founded the visual sound performance group zenit&nadir, of which he was an active member until 2011. During this period, the group collaborated closely with the gallery fluctuating images, participating in screenings, performances and curated event formats, including the 2007 series “exploring party – Party als Kunst” at the Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart.

In 2009, zenit&nadir premiered the stage production “contain – Leben in 33m³” at Theaterhaus Stuttgart. The work was inspired by the venue’s former function as a steel warehouse that temporarily housed a container village for asylum seekers during the Balkan Civil War, forming the conceptual foundation of the piece.

From 2013 till 2015, Nesic has been a member of the artist collective Bomb Gallery. As a musician and performing artist, he has worked in various contexts, including acting in “Assassinate Assange” by Angela Richter at Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, and performing as a live drummer for Chicks on Speed at the National Theatre Mannheim. In 2015, he presented the performance “ALEKS RAUS TAG / The De-artification of Art / Die Entkunstung der Kunst” at the Asia Contemporary Art Platform – NON Berlin, in which bubble wrap and high-end packaging materials once used to protect artworks by world-famous artists were auctioned to the audience.

Nesic’s solo project Poison In Honey, active since 2015, is an electronic live set combining drums and percussion, electronics, vocal improvisation, noise and field recordings. His recorded and live music explores the tension between the figurative and the abstract, the mechanical and the organic, the sensual and the brutal. Through recording, processing and recontextualizing sound, he creates visually narrative soundscapes and experiments across diverse genre influences.
